DELMAR --Daisey Honess has landed a job. It's not the typical gig, but then, Daisey isn't the likeliest employee a client would expect to come calling -- or rather, barking. Daisey is a certified cimicidae detector, often pulling the night shift when her targets are most likely to surface. She also is a 2-year-old beagle, a scent hound at Ladybug Pest Management Inc. of Delmar and the only dog known on Maryland's Eastern Shore certified to sniff out bed bugs. And since the small parasitic insect is on the rise in the United States and abroad -- sucking human blood in poor, tenant communities and upscale, homeowner subdivisions, in budget motels where guests might stay a hour and luxury accommodations for the sophisticated traveler as the Waldorf Astoria -- hiring Daisey made good business sense.
